The flip side of all the building that I’ve been doing is that I’m terribly behind in my sorting. A well sorted collection is key to being able to build well (since a piece you can’t find is a piece you don’t have). With Bricks Cascade behind me, it is time to get busy disassembling unwanted models, parting out sets, and sorting all those elements.
This last weekend the wife and I made a trip to Ikea for shelves and bins. My Lego collection has been expanding as I sort and acquire new pieces. It had been my plan all along to get more storage eventually, but that critical mass had been reached and my table was covered with bags of pieces and partially constructed models.
Now that I have a space set aside for working with my Legos, I’ve pulled them out of the basement. Right away I realized that I was going to be in for a chore. My bricks are in a number of plastic tubs and trays, but with little organization. To make it a bit worse, there is a tangle of partially demolished models. I put them into storage hastily, so I did whatever I had to do to get them into bins. Now I am seeing the fruits of that haste.
