The LEGO Christmas Ornaments Book 2

I’m not much of a Christmas guy. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not the Grinch. I like a lot of the trappings of the holiday, but I’ve spent too many years of my life working retail to not be turned off by the craziness of it all. One of the things I do like is the tree, and you can’t have a Christmas tree without ornaments!

Chris McVeigh is a super talented builder. I really appreciate the attention to detail he brings to whatever he builds. Most of the year, he channels nostalgia with his old-school computers and appliances and such. When the holidays arrive, Chris turns his attention to ornaments, releasing new designs most every year.

This is the second book of ornaments that he has published with No Starch Press. I never picked up the first one, but from the looks of number 2, I really missed something good.

Each of the book’s 16 designs opens with a gorgeously photographed example of the finished product.

Now that you’ve been tempted by the picture, each design has a very clear bill of materials. He also includes the element id numbers to make it even easier to follow along at home. The instructions themselves are great. Clear and attractive, easy to follow.

This is a great little book. All of the ornaments are cool, with a range of styles from traditional to quirky. There is a nice selection pictured on the end papers.

So if your tree is a bit bare and you’re looking to spruce it up with some LEGO ornaments, this is the book!
